In the previous 2 Episodes in this Series, we looked at the mechanics of teaching Backbends to adults and children. We then looked at the benefits of these poses in Episode 2.

In this Episode we will look at the basic Heart benefits of children Yoga, considering the Heart as ‘The Organ’, i.e, the actual Cardiovascular benefits of children yoga.

One area in which children’s yoga can have a significant impact is cardiovascular health. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide, and it is crucial to establish healthy habits early in life to prevent it. Yoga can help children develop healthy habits that can lead to a lifetime of good cardiovascular health.

Here are some ways that children’s yoga can improve cardiovascular health:

  1. Increases physical activity levels: Yoga is a low-impact form of exercise that can be done anywhere, anytime. It does not require any special equipment, making it accessible to children of all ages and abilities. By encouraging children to engage in regular yoga practice, they will be more active, which is essential for good cardiovascular health.
  2. Reduces stress: Yoga has been shown to reduce stress levels in both children and adults. Stress can contribute to a range of health problems, including cardiovascular disease. By reducing stress levels through yoga, children can help prevent the development of cardiovascular disease in the future.
  3. Improves circulation: Yoga poses involve stretching and moving the body in various ways, which can help improve circulation. When the heart pumps blood more efficiently, it can help prevent the buildup of plaque in the arteries, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.
  4. Promotes relaxation: Yoga encourages children to focus on their breath and be present in the moment. This practice can help promote relaxation and reduce anxiety, which can have a positive impact on cardiovascular health.
  5. Encourages healthy habits: By introducing children to yoga at a young age, they can establish healthy habits that can last a lifetime. This includes eating a healthy diet, getting enough exercise, and managing stress levels, all of which are essential for good cardiovascular health.

In conclusion, children’s yoga can have a significant impact on cardiovascular health by increasing physical activity levels, reducing stress, improving circulation, promoting relaxation, and encouraging healthy habits. Parents and educators can introduce children to yoga by finding local classes or using online resources to practice at home. By making yoga a regular part of their routine, children can develop healthy habits that will benefit them for years to come.
