We change all the times, kids grow up and therefore our relationship change too. We should invest time to nurture these precious relationships in our lives.
For many years I followed Gretchen Rubin over podcasts, books, newsletters and her Happier App. She recently wrote about what practical steps we can take to make sure we always nurture our relationships with those closest to us.
Minor holidays, such as Valentine's Day for instance, give us a chance to reflect on the different aspects of our lives, including our relationships. If you're seeking ways to strengthen your bonds with friends or loved ones, consider incorporating the following habits into your daily routine:
- Embrace the Power of Scheduling – Make time for date nights, virtual chats, or coffee dates by marking them on your calendar.
- Make the Most of Opportunities – Take advantage of daily activities, like walks, commutes, or household chores, to catch up with family and friends.
- Dedicate Unplugged Time – Set aside afternoons or evenings once a week to disconnect and spend quality time with your significant other or family.
- Show Appreciation – Offer warm greetings and farewells, and look for opportunities to compliment, congratulate, or express gratitude.
- Document Special Moments – Keep track of important dates and anniversaries on your Weekly Scheduler
- Vision Board: update it once or twice a year, taking time to print a few snaps and pin them on it: you would be surprised how effective this is.
- Make sure to have greeting cards and stamps readily available to send heartfelt messages or post little notes on each other desks! I love getting little notes from my children on my bed side table. It ‘s time I replicate!
- Cook a Meal together where everyone can be in the kitchen at once, listen and talkBy incorporating these habits, you can strengthen your relationships and create meaningful connections that last a lifetime.
