Our School Ethos
Yogamoo was founded in 2006 with the vision of making yoga and wellbeing accessible to all. Initially operating as a yoga studio with books and DVDs, we have specialized since 2014 in delivering Yoga and Mindfulness sessions for primary schools, focusing on after-school clubs and in-school wellbeing programs.
Since 2017, we have trained nearly 100 teachers across the UK, equipping them with proven techniques to support children’s wellbeing. We are now expanding to serve more schools across Surrey and neighbouring counties, offering before and after-school clubs, as well as specialist in-school sessions to promote emotional regulation, focus, and confidence during the school day. Sessions take place in school, and can be booked by the school or by parents once a school club is advertised in school. If you are interested in your child attending classes, please speak to your School's club leader, wellbeing lead or Senco who can request our services.
Why It Matters
Schools today face a growing mental health crisis. In the UK, 1 in 5 children aged 8-16 are likely to have a mental health problem—a near 50% increase since 2017 (source: March 2024). Children need effective, accessible ways to manage their emotions and stress, yet traditional interventions often focus only on talking-based solutions.
Yoga and Mindfulness techniques provide somatic (body-based) tools to help children feel safe, grounded, and regulated. With regular practice, these simple techniques can help reset the nervous system, offering a sense of stability and calm whenever needed.
Our Approach: Simple, Structured & Inclusive
Through years of experience working with children, we have developed a teaching method and curriculum that are based upon:
✅ Body Awareness – Encouraging coordination, balance, and posture for greater stability and confidence.
✅ Mental Awareness – Helping children recognize and regulate their thoughts, building self-agency.
✅ Emotional Awareness – Teaching children to acknowledge their feelings, understand that moods shift, and pace their energy.
Our sessions are:
Experiential & Paced – Engaging both mind and body with gentle movement and breath.
Short & Structured – Making it easy for children to learn and practice regularly.
Adaptable for Everyone – Accessible to all children, regardless of ability and needs.
Join Our Growing Children’s Yoga School
For years, we have trained education staff and yoga teachers to apply these techniques effectively in schools. Now, as we expand into new geographical areas, we are looking for passionate individuals to help bring this work to more children.
